Arthur has worked as a research chemist and mentor for younger chemists for 30 years with Union Carbide and Praxair Corporations. He obtained eleven U.S. Patents and published nine research papers on his research. In addition, he taught chemistry at the College of St. Rose, Albany NY and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY for eight years after retiring as a research chemist. For the past four years he has volunteered as an Earth and Space Explainer at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Arthur's other interests include playing server correspondence chess and annotating reader games for The Chess Correspondent magazine. At Bell Curves he teaches a variety of subjects, specializing in Chemistry and Earth Science.
